Today is the anniversary of English soldier and poet Wilfred Owen’s death. He was killed in action just one week before the end of #WW1.

Conclusion
Step One – Make clear you are concluding by using these words in your conclusion:

Step two – Give a summary of what you have shown (evidence and analysis) and how this answers the question. Eg.
In conclusion, and through close analysis of the literary techniques used by Owen, it has been proven that his poem, ‘Dulce et Decorum est’, due to its vivid and graphic imagery, leaves a lasting, somewhat scarring, impression on the reader.
Step three – Sign off on a personal note once again by repeating a summary of what you said in your responses.
Ultimately I myself know that I will never forget his grim and terrible account of the First World War since his poetry has so explicitly brought it to life for me.

Structure of a critical essay
In Section 2 of the National 5 English Critical Reading Paper you will write ONE essay in answer to a question about question from the following genres — Prose OR Poetry OR Film and Television.
Your answer must be on a different genre from that chosen in Section 1. In Section 1 you will be answering the questions on the play Sailmaker by Alan Spence to you CANNOT AND MUST NOT write about it again in a critical essay.
